Subjects ranged from the value of the professional development program, bringing Create NSW and a range of Sydney-based arts funding representatives to talk about grants and opportunities, access to the Country Arts Support program, the psycho-social benefits to health and wellbeing from participating in creative activities, the advice and support that staff from Southern Tablelands Arts (STA) have provided to members and groups of the Yass arts community, and our extensive social media support for Yass Valley arts and cultural activities.
We extend our warmest thanks to those who attended and to those who spoke at the council meeting in recognition of our work over 23 years, including in-school programs, Sculpture in the Paddock, Yass Rep and start-up festival The Yass Irish and Celtic Festival.
STA also manages Wine Press, now in its fifth year, which celebrates authors from the region at an event at Eden Road Wines and of course Maisie's Choir, including the springtime event which in 2018 showcased five choirs.
Board chair Susan Brindle was delighted to hear the clear understanding that councillors had of our work, and their appreciation and understanding of the value and benefits delivered by the organisation into the Yass Valley.
The board is delighted that council voted to continue to financially contribute to the operational costs of Southern Tablelands Arts for the next three years.
