The Yass Roos full forward took to the field on Saturday with a visible limp against the Belconnen Magpies, but proved how dangerous his good leg is by slotting five goals.
Davey's haul contributed to a sharp reversal in form for the Roos, who managed a 10.9.69 to 7.13.55 victory.
"He's had a really injury-rattled year," Yass coach Adam Curtois said.
"He was playing on one leg today but he still managed to kick five goals, it was awesome to watch."
With his haul, Daveys was the standout in what was otherwise an excellent all-round performance from Yass, who had struggled up to this point in the season.
Curtois said after the game that the win was "the best game we've played as a team all year", but added that he was slightly frustrated.
"No-one really got found out in a position, we had guys in different positions today and they played it really well," he said.
"As a win, I think that's the best win we've had this year. They're a good side and they'll be pushing for the grand final this year.
"So to knock them off, it's really good to see. It's also a bit frustrating that we leave it until the end of the year to start bringing some really good footy."
The match began in the Roos' favour at Joe O'Connor Park, as the home side steadily pulled ahead.
Yass played a brand of football which will have reminded Roos fans of the premiership-winning sides of days gone past. They congested the ball in the midfield with men behind the contest to take advantage of the spillages, and it worked a treat.
Things tightened up in the final quarter as the Magpies got angry and forced their way back into the contest - even nabbing the lead briefly - but Yass were not to be denied, and late goals put the Roos 14 points ahead.
Though it is too late for the Roos to make a run for the finals, the win gave Curtois hope about seasons to come.
"There's no pressure on us at the moment, we can't make finals, so the boys are having a bit of fun with it," he said.
"I'm confident going forward. I think every team who's ever played the game has had a bad year, and there was a bit of a changing of the guard.
"We're on the right track for years to come."
