NSW Farmers' annual conference was held in Sydney on July 23-25, with over 300 farmers travelling to debate the future of food and fibre production. The diverse topics included drought, inland rail, farm trespass, solar farms, truth in milk labelling, water management and even electric vehicles.

Yass Branch put forward a policy motion that single touch payroll should be exempt for small businesses with less than 20 full time employees, and this was passed was the delegates.
NSW Farmers have since organised a webinar with the ATO for members about the single touch payroll requirements, which will need to be complied with by October 1 at this stage.
The Yass Valley Council has released a new draft weed management plan - I urge everyone to read it and submit a written response to council on any improvement to the plan.
The NSW Farmers Yass Branch will be meeting on August 19 to review the plan and compile a submission on behalf of its members.
We hope that the council will meet with the branch executive and other key stakeholders before submissions are due on August 26.
We were thrilled to host the Young Farmer Business Program's Bank Ready workshop this week, with NAB's Mitch Harris presenting to young farmers on how to impress a bank and make sure you find a bank that 'gets you and your business'.
