The season is expected to begin on Wednesday, October 30 at the Recreation Grounds and will run until mid-March.
President of Murrumbateman Little Athletics club Kristin Butler said the "idea came about when Murrumbateman hosted a collar run at the recreational grounds back in November of last year."
"They had around 80 children turn up.
"I was watching them taking on awesome obstacle courses around the grounds.
"I thought they need an athletics club where they could jump hurdles and it rolled on from there."
Prior to the event, Butler thought there would be a decent turnout because of all the activities that would be organised on the day and the fact it would be like a family fun day.
She was correct.
"At least 40 families turned up and we now have over 40 registered athletes," Butler said.
"We combined it with a markets day as well, so that helped."
"The registration day was the first time everyone got together.
"It was so streamlined, everyone knew their place and the kids had an absolute blast.
"They made up their own games and did not stop playing."
There was equipment set up for the kids to have fun and they received a little Coles goody bag.
A free barbecue was also organised for the community to thank them for their support.
Butler believes the club is really important for Murrumbateman as they do not have a school.
"I think we need a central hub where kids can get together, meet each other and have a family that is outside their school friends," she said.
"It's important for parents not to have to drive into Canberra all the time to do and find all those things."
The success of the registration day has given Butler high hopes of a fantastic future for the club.
"I'm hoping that it's really prosperous and that it continues," she said.
"The community have been absolutely amazing just getting behind it.
"It has surpassed everything that I ever thought it would be."
Butler's aim is to have a really flourishing club that brings the community together.
Murrumbateman Little Athletics will have competitions ranging from u6s to u17s.
