"A lot of the girls played last year and had the heartbreak of going down to Goulburn in the final," Magpies coach Josh Hardy said.
"They're just hoping to go one better than last year."
The Magpies beat them convincingly only a couple weeks ago in the semifinal, winning 42-6, but Hardy said the Dragons were still a dangerous side.
"Last time, I think the girls turned up with a very good attitude," Hardy said.
"Having a home semifinal really worked to our advantage.
"We had a lot of home support and the girls really rose to the occasion and played out of their skin.
"However, the Dragons a really good side across the paddock.
"They're really big across the park and they're very physical.
"They run hard and they tackle hard.
"I reckon they've been the vast improvers of the competition."
However, grand finals are a different kettle of fish and Hardy said there were things to work on from the previous encounter.
"We need to work on better execution," Hardy said.
"We were a bit slow out of the block in the semifinal.
"Dragons scored an early try and we had to grind our way back into the game."
Adding to the occasion is that fact that the final is being played in the biggest stadium in Canberra, GIO Stadium.
"The girls are very excited,"
"A lot of them have never played at GIO Stadium before."
The game is being played as a curtain-raiser to the round 25 NRL clash between the Canberra Raiders and the New Zealand Warriors which a couple of the girls are looking forward to.
"We have a few Raiders supporters," Hardy said.
"There's a couple of Kiwi girls too who go for the Warriors, so I'm sure they'll stick around."
The Dragons qualified for the final with a 26-10 win over the Queanbeyan Blues in the preliminary final.
The Magpies have beaten the Dragons twice this season.
