It was a tough and tight affair when they lost 1-0 to the Monaro Panthers Black in the State League Women's grand final on Sunday, September 8 at Kambah.
Redbacks coach Andrew Southwell said the team could be proud of their season.
Their grand final team consisted of Alison McLucas, Cynthia Crisp, Kirsty Owen, Victoria Alley, Makenna Gordon, Eliza Hickey, Katie Burns, Amy Alley, Jacinta Murphy, Amanda Eccleston, Renee O'Loughlan, Kath Farnell, Kyla Upton, Katrina Farnsworth, Anna Buckman and Ruth Riach.
Annabelle Hansson, Ash Parker and Megan Kemp were unavailable.
The first half saw Yass going with the wind and they found it difficult to adapt to the conditions.
Southwell said there were a couple of factors influencing their performance early on.
"Together with nerves and an eager opposition who were well organised in defense, we seemed to find ourselves under pressure and couldn't find our calm passing game," Southwell said.
"It took until the 34th minute before Monaro found a way through our backline to score."
The score remained 1-0 at the break.
The second half saw Yass better organised and they managed to make it a very even game.
"The longer the game went, the more we began to dominate," Southwell said.
"We just could not find a goal even though there were some good opportunities to score."
A goaless second half meant the Panthers took home the title.
"When the whistle blew for full time there were some very disappointed players," he said.
The Panthers were on top of the ladder after the home and away season while the Rebbacks were in third.
The girls will be looking to go one step further next season.
