The pretty little village of Bowning in Yass Valley is packed with history and this September it's stepping back in time for a day.
Old Bowning Town Open Day has activities to suit everyone in the family, from gold mining to antique machinery displays and trash and treasure markets.
There will also be gumboot throwing championships, crossbow demonstrations by world champion Stuart Atkins and his wife Frances, a dress-up photo booth and working blacksmith. All of the activities will be set in and around Rollonin Cafe's old model town.
The proceeds will go to Yass Valley SPIN (Supporting People in Need) Foundation.
Reach new heights and climb Bowning Hill
Sunday, September 22, 10am to 3pm. Donations to Yass Valley SPIN (Supporting People in Need) Foundation.
Panoramic views of the Yass Valley can only be accessed at the top of Bowning Hill once a year, and that time is fast approaching.
People of all ages and abilities are invited to join the walk and enjoy the spectacular reward at the end.
There is a vehicle for people who need assistance and an adventure trail for children.
A barbecue and drinks will be provided at the bottom of the hill.
Foodies Night Markets
Yass Showground on Sunday, September 22. Gates open at 4pm and close at 9pm. Entry is a gold coin and there is free parking onsite.
Love trying new food? Then this is the market for you. The popular Foodies Night Market is coming to Yass for one night only this September.
The full food truck line-up will be announced closer to the time, but if previous Foodie Markets are anything to go off you can expect everything from dumplings and pizza to donuts and ice cream.
Nearly 2000 people have said they're going, with fun for the whole family including amusement rides, live music and retail shopping.
Foodies Market is all about letting small, locally-owned and independent businesses show off their creations.
