That night for the Yass Roos was on Friday, September 13 at the Yass Golf Club.
The biggest award of the night went to Toby Serafin who won the inaugural John Foran Best and Fairest medal with 60 votes, squeezing past Ryan Forlonge on 50 votes.
Former Roos player and long time supporter Wade Chalmers, who is known as "The Fox Terrier", said this was the first year the Best and Fairest medal was named after John Foran.
"This was done in special recognition of John's continuous and invaluable service to the club from its inception in 2002 to the present day."
Damian Philippa was honoured with life membership of the club after ten years as a player, notching up 152 games and 43 goals during his career with the Roos.
"He is a former captain of the team and is a key mentor to the younger team members," Chalmers said.
"He is one of the characters of the club and a strong competitor on the field.
"It was a well-deserved award."
Behind every club are people who work tirelessly and Jenene Forlonge was awarded for her efforts when she took out the club person of the year award, making it four in a row for her.
"Jenene has been a tireless contributor since the day she arrived at the club," Chalmers said.
"She has been a real asset to the club and thoroughly deserved the recognition of this award."
Round 13 this year was Ladies Day and the Roos hosted four games at O'Connor Park to raise funds for CanAssist.
On the day, $3500 was raised and a cheque was presented to CanAssist representatives Geoff and Jean Frost.
For the other awards, Roos coach Adam Curtois presented the coach's award to Ryan Forlonge while Leigh Thompson's gave Richard Allen the captain's award. Thompson scored the most goals with 16 for the season, while the players' player award for the season was shared between Brad Porter and Steve O'Brien who also was awarded the most consistent player. The most Improved player was Angus Burleigh while Peter Collins won the best back man.
