On October 1, they're bringing their handcrafted arrangements of the Thin White Duke's mercurial songbook to Yass.
Presented by Yass FM 100.3, the live Tuesday night concert will be a first for host venue, the Yass Soldiers Club on Meehan Street.
The Thin White Ukes are believed to be the only ukulele-led Bowie tribute act in the world, and this will be their first time in the town.
The concert is a fundraising event for the interest group, Friends of Liberty - 'Libertas', who seek to initiate a community movement for the restoration of the Liberty Theatre on Comur Street.
Libertas is an auspicee under the incorporated organisation of Yass FM, the local community radio station headed by Ian McClung.
As the newly appointed board president, Mr McClung says there's a parallel between the Bowie act and the Liberty Theatre's prospects.
"Everything old is new again," said Mr McClung, who is also an active member of, and spokesperson for, Libertas.
"Just as The Thin White Ukes are representing the lyrics of David Bowie in a new way, it's exciting to think we could similarly re-invent the theatre, and the positive impact that would have on the town, both in arts and culture," he said.
A Bowie Odyssey would be the first of many fundraising collaborations for the radio station and Libertas, he said.
Spanning six decades from Space Oddity to Blackstar, the Ukes have teased the neck hairs of spellbound audiences nationally.
Their repertoire includes radio hits such as Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust, Golden Years, Heroes and more, and onward to "orbits less travelled" from the late music artist's extensive back catalogue.
They frequently play to a sold-out house at Smith's Alternative Bookshop in Canberra, and have toured extensively, nationally.
On an assortment of ukes, The Thin White Ukes are Betty France (soprano), Michael Dwyer (tenor) and Robert Stephens (baritone).
See A Bowie Odyssey with The Thin White Ukes at Yass Soldiers Club, Meehan Street, on Tuesday October 1.
Doors open at 6.30pm, and the event will conclude by 10pm. Tickets are $30.
