Murrumbateman Little Athletics Club president Kristin Butler said the start of the season could not have been any better.
"We had a really successful first night," Butler said.
"We're almost at 100 registered athletes at the moment and almost everyone turned up."
The first session consisted of a lot of fun based training games so that everyone got used to their age groups and age managers.
There was also a sausage sizzle at the end.
The second session saw the athletes do a lot of sprint work and shot-put, while all the kids are started to get measured and recorded.
"I hope everyone had a lot of fun, met new friends and gained some confidence in their abilities to start bettering their own personal bests," Butler said.
It's not only about focusing on competing against their friends in the same age group."
The club may only have just started, but there are already plenty of people working hard behind the scenes.
"We've got a huge army of volunteers as well now," Butler said.

"Lots of them had different skills they were able to utilise."
Butler believes the club is really important for Murrumbateman as they do not have a school.
"I think we need a central hub where kids can get together, meet each other and have a family that is outside their school friends," she said.
"It's important for parents not to have to drive into Canberra all the time to do and find all those things."
The Murrumbateman Little Athletics club trains every Wednesday night.
