YDCA president, Paul Barnes, said "this is the first time in my memory that the association has run it."
The day, which will raise money for the McGrath Foundation, will replace this year's local Twenty20 competition, which the association found was too much cricket to be packed into two weekends.

"Next year we'll look at running the T20 comp during the year and playing games every Thursday or Friday night, and having a knockout competition with one weekend set aside for the grand final," Barnes said.
"Rather than trying to do the whole competition over two weekends, which is a lot of cricket. I think that might've been one of the main turn-offs [for players]."
The YDCA leapt on the chance to hold a Pink Stumps Day because of the value the McGrath Foundation adds to the community.
"We thought it was a really good opportunity to raise some money for a foundation that's been really close to cricket for a long time, especially NSW cricket," Barnes said.
Though the exact details are yet to be confirmed, the match will likely be 40 overs per team, with 13 players per team.

- Paul Barnes
It will be "fairly social" Barnes said, with past players such as Barnes himself and former YDCA president Dave O'Brien set to return to the field, along with current players who want to take part.
It will also be an opportunity for several junior players to have a run alongside the seniors, Barnes said.
"[We're] also looking at having three or four junior future stars come out and play at Victoria Park, which obviously not many kids get to do," he said.
After the match, the association will hold a barbecue for players and spectators in attendance.
The YDCA will also ask Cricket ACT and Cricket NSW to provide whatever assistance they can, in order to help make the Pink Stumps Day as much of a success as possible.
The YDCA will provide further details once they are confirmed in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the association's Facebook page for more.
