The key event of the day was the annual Ray Smith Memorial 15 Pair Double Rise. Jim Coutts, a Yass member who was recently awarded AA status, hit the ground running and set an early score to beat of 28/30.
Fellow shooters, many of whom have their name already engraved on the Ray Smith Shield, couldn't better Jim's great score or Jim's great smile after finding out he'd won the event outright.
Another shooter who continues to impress every time she visits our club is Canberra International shooter Lauren Gee.
She is no stranger to shooting the single barrel event clean and managed to do it again on Sunday. In fact, she and Glenn Barton were the only two shooters to do so on the day.
With six squads vying for prizes, the club catered for a good mix of experienced and new shooters from Yass, Majura, Canberra Inter, Tumut, Boorowa, Goulburn and Berrima.
At the end of the day, a shoot-off between Glenn Barton from Boorowa and Dave Caccioppoli from Tumut was required to determine High Gun for the day.
Dave, who is in great form of late, claimed the honours and was also victorious in a Point Score shoot-off with Mat Gerstenberg earlier in the day.
The YCTC now looks forward to a very relaxing Christmas competition shoot in December, so if you're keen for a shot and fancy your chances of bagging a ham, be sure and call in on Sunday, December 15.
