
A critical incident investigation has been launched following the death of a man at Yass overnight.
Police said officers were patrolling the Yass CBD, when they attempted to stop a vehicle on Laidlaw Street about 11.45pm Sunday
They activated their lights, however the vehicle failed to stop and was discovered a short distance away after police said it left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The driver, a man believed to be aged 34, died at the scene.
A critical incident team from Monaro Police District investigate all the circumstances.
The investigation will be subject to independent review. All information will be provided to the Coroner.
A police spokesman said no further details were available at this stage. However, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone who can assist should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
