The federal government is ploughing $40 million into programs to get more women into work and ward off the prospect of long-term unemployment and economic disadvantage.

The money will go to 60 organisations across the country that will work to bring down barriers to workforce participation, including ageism and the effects of domestic violence.
It's part of the government's plan to rebuild the economic security of women and in so doing boost the economy after the ravages of the pandemic.
Among the programs to receive funding are ones that support teen parents and women experiencing domestic violence, and others that will help older women re-skill.
"These projects are estimated to benefit around 40,000 Australian women nation-wide, including women from diverse backgrounds and those at high risk of long-term unemployment", Minister for Women Marise Payne said on Saturday.
"Opportunities will be created for women to up-skill and enter traditionally male dominated industries including non-traditional trades, aviation, construction and coding as well as progress to leadership positions."
