With four matches scheduled at Walker Park against the Goulburn City Bulldogs, the home side managed just one victory.
The Under 19s got proceedings underway at 10.30am but fell short by ten points against a perennially strong Bulldogs outfit.
But things began to look up when the Katrina Fanning Shield side handed Goulburn its first defeat of the season, with a one-sided 22-4 win.
The Reserve Grade men's Magpies started similarly well, but the Bulldogs surged back late in the game to clutch a last-gasp win.
Yass's First Grade outfit put up a stern fight against the Bulldogs, but ultimately fell to a 34-18 loss against the now third-ranked team.
