* A woman's body was found in a vehicle on Friday in flood waters at Glenfyne, about 200km southwest of Melbourne. She is understood to be the second floods-related fatality in Victoria this week.

* Victoria SES has had more than 7400 requests for help, with about 5800 related to fallen trees

* As of midday Friday, 2500 of those requests were yet to be cleared

* More than 100 roads were closed at midday on Friday because of tree carnage. Fallen trees have caused damage in the Macedon Ranges, central highlands, Kinglake, Yarra Ranges, as well as the Dandenong Ranges, Latrobe Valley and through to the Bass Coast

* The Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd and the Maroondah Highway also were closed because of fallen trees

* As of Friday morning, more than 100,000 homes still without power

* Gusty winds of up to 60km/h over the weekend in the south Gippsland area will make travel through the region hazardous because soils are already wet and trees are fragile from previous windy conditions.

GIPPSLAND FLOODS

* More rainfall is expected Friday evening which will worsen flooding in certain areas

* Multiple flood warnings from outer eastern Melbourne around Yarra Glen (Yarra River) and further west to Traralgon (Traralgon Creek) and Sale (Thomson River)

* 42 flood rescues in the previous 24 hours

* 30 homes impacted around Traralgon, also around Hazlewood and Maffra

* Evacuation order renewed on Friday for the community near Traralgon Creek and many other communities advised to "evacuate if necessary"

* Major flooding expected at the upper reaches of the Yarra River near Melbourne, with the Melba Highway and the Healesville-Yarra Glen Rd closed
