Porter doubles up

Sam Porter took the double last weekend by winning Saturday’s Yass Pro Shop Two-Person Ambrose playing with Rob Field, and then winning the Yass Open Championships on Sunday.

Porter and Field posted an impressive, 12 under par 56 on Saturday and Porter shot a 67 on Sunday.

Josh Armstrong from Gold Creek Golf Club was victorious in the juniors on Sunday, for the second year running, scoring 72 off the stick.

All in all it was a great weekend held at Yass Golf Club, with good weather, other than the few later players on Sunday who encountered the change.  Fortunately that didn’t disrupt the 100 players that were attempting to win a Toyota Yaris on the 15th hole. Unfortunately no-one was successful. Thanks to Luff Motors and IA and VP Robertson Landscape Supplies for being major sponsors, as well the other sponsors that helped make the weekend happen.

Dad’s Army December 6

The 16 troops had a glorious morning for the Dad's Army competition this week and the scoring at the top was really hot, with the balls only going down to 19 points. In the end it was Graham ‘The Laidvale Lad’ Howlett who took the win, with a very fine 21 points to take out the money from Peter Anderson, Peter Boutcher and Jack Wales, who all had 20 points. Bernie Puckett with 19 points took out the balls on offer. Points ranged from 21 down to 12 points was the range this week. Dad's Army scored four points in Business House competition last week giving them a total of 25, while this week they scored 119.
