Sue Gaffney and Cathy Cooke couldn’t be happier with Saturday night’s dance and auction to raise money for BlazeAid.
More than 180 paid their money at the door for an evening of fun and fundraising.
The sheer volume of items up for auction was staggering, with bidders bidding enthusiastically throughout the evening, in the band breaks.
Ryan Cassidy and his ‘Bulls For Sale’ band got many up and dancing to familiar tunes.
Sue said she wanted to thank “the public for turning up and having a ball”.
She also thanked the generous donors of auction items and Steve Scroope “who is not only a brilliant auctioneer and storyteller, but he also walked 500 miles to arrive on time. Such dedication!”
Sue was referring to Steve’s enthusiastic dancing to the well-known Proclaimers’ tune.
She also thanked the Rotarians, who handled the business side of the night, the band, who not only kept everyone entertained but auctioned themselves off at the end of the night, and the Soldiers Club for supplying the venue and a delicious supper.
“Lastly, I’d like to thank our wonderful helpers who jumped in at such short notice and created calm from chaos,” Sue said.
