The rain overnight meant the fields were a little greasy but the Yass players showed they weren't afraid of a little mud.
The club fielded four senior teams, with the B-grade mixed side going down in the final to host's - Burradoo. But it was the individual awards where Yass shined, Olivia Erland celebrated not only her seventh birthday with a great cake made by her mum Rachel, but also won the sub-junior Encouragement Award, Jacob Wiscombe won Best B-grade Open Player, and the newest Irish recruit, Stephen Nuzum, aka Paddy, won Best B-grade Mixed Player, with his horse Bengoran Tia" being crowned champion B-grade horse in her first ever carnival. A good weekend was wrapped up when Frida Meares won a very flash racing bike that was bigger than her in the raffle!
The next destination will be the Lake George carnival, held at the Bungendore Racecourse, and the recent rain will be most welcome for the Bungendore grounds. The full calendar of competitions can be found on the NSW Polocrosse website, www.nswpolocrosse.com.au.
