For so long it had been the unattainable dream, the Holy Grail. So many champion Aussie golfers throughout history would have ended their putting practice with a 12-foot-putt to be the first Aussie to win the Masters and then Adam Scott did exactly that.

Seventy-nine years after the first US Masters tournament was held, Adam Scott rewrote history and broke the well publicized 'Aussie hoodoo' on golf's greatest stage.
Many had gone close and with the abundance of major winning golfers Australia has produced it did seem like it was a frontier never to be crossed.
I mean if Peter Thomson (five majors), Greg Norman (two majors), David Graham (two majors) and World Golf Hall of Famer Kel Nagle couldn't win at Augusta National maybe it wasn't meant to be.
It really felt that way when Adam Scott, Jason Day and Geoff Ogilvy were all charging towards the green jacket on the final day in 2011 only to be pipped by a red-hot South African Charl Schwartzel, who made birdies on all four of the final holes.
And then again when former Masters champion Angel Cabrera made a clutch birdie on the last to force a playoff with Scott last year. Of course the Queenslander famously got the job done and in doing so, has possibly opened the floodgates for this proud sporting nation.
In this year's edition Australia boasts seven players in the field including reigning champion Scott. Jason Day is a huge chance after already coming close twice before; John Senden is a seasoned veteran but yet to win a major; Marc Leishman has been one of the in-form players on the PGA tour; and Oliver Goss came second in the US Amateur event last year to qualify.
But the two I'm excited to watch are Steven Bowditch and Matt Jones. These two guys both won their first PGA tour events in the last few weeks to qualify for the Masters. Matt Jones had a fairytale finish last week. He was six strokes back going into the final round but made a 44 foot putt on the last hole and chipped in from 40 yards in the playoff to gain a start at Augusta. Both will be going in with a nothing-to-lose attitude and full of confidence.
Hopefully Adam Scott's victory was just a sign of things to come.
