Like all the residents of Yass and districts I am looking forward to a lot of long awaited events now that the 'carbon tax' has been repealed. The first will be Angus Taylor knocking on my door with a grin on his face and a $550 cheque in his hand representing the dividend to each Australian flowing from this action.
After that I eagerly await the tumbling prices of fuel, electricity, grocery prices (I'm getting so giddy at the thought of all this) and a myriad of other goods and services.
What's that? Did I hear Woolworths say they never charged the carbon tax? Never!
The portrait of the Queen in most schools is horribly out of date showing a very young monarch and should be updated, but I have a better idea. Why not issue the picture of the Liberal National Party members rejoicing in the lower house a few days ago over the 'axing of the Tax'. The kiddies will want to know who it was who condemned them to a world where their futures were sold to Big Coal and Big Oil.
Far more significant than some dusty old monarch I would think.
Philip Armour,
Yass
