Councillor Jasmine Jones contacted the Yass Tribune to alert readers to the changes and where they can find her monthly reports.
"In the interests of transparency I will continue to post my monthly reports online via my personal website," Cr Jones said.
"While I must abide by the majority decision I do not agree it is a step in the right direction for transparency and good communication. My monthly reports note not only community involvement and advocacy but also clearly show any meetings with developers etc. This is something the state government now requires of its representatives and I believe it is a worthy standard," she said.
Yass Valley Mayor Rowena Abbey disagrees with the importance of the councillor reports and describes them as similar to a diary.
"I started the councillor's report and we tried it for sometime and found that it was just not useful. It's important for us to have things in place to filter through issues of relevance and importance to council. Ultimately if it has lost its value then there is no point in continuing," mayor Abbey said.
"The majority made a decision that the councillor's reports provide no value to council or the community. It is however disappointing that the decision that has been made by the council is not supported by all councillors."
Cr Cecil Burgess agrees with mayor Abbey that the councillor's report is a time consuming and useless tool.
"I don't believe in or take part in the written reports. I live in Gundaroo and am not that great at using the computer. Writing these reports is quite time consuming and serves no purpose. I always give a verbal report and if someone wants to know where I have been all they have to do is ask," Cr Burgess said.
He describes this council as the worst he has been on since he started in 1995.
"I have been in the council for 19 years and I have never seen a council like this," Cr Burgess said. “No one can pull together.”
