I recently had a lovely morning taken up with having the dog clipped and bathed, thanks to Lisa from Harden. The joys of owning a pet with such a thick coat! I think he might be sulking a little but he must feel heaps better.

School news
School has broken up for holidays again so beware of kids on bikes and scooters! They are pretty much free to roam until Tuesday October 4. It would be wonderful to see them out and about, not inside with their computers and pads and phones. Having said that, I think I will have to grab a ten year old to sort out a few things I am not sure about. They seem to be so clever with all these gadgets.
The Arabin Cup held at the Golf Club recently was a great success with teachers remarking on the good sportsmanship of the youngsters. In the Bulletin Mr Bennett thanked the members of the P&C and the club and Miss O'Connor for the smooth running of the day.
The transitions days for the sixth class kids going to Murrumburrah High next year will be Tuesday October 28 and November 13.
The record keeping at the school has been made easier by the installation of the Sentral Server programme which will keep all records for students in the one place.
Robyn's praise for the behaviour of the children at the Bush Poetry weekend was also included in the Bulletin and her congratulations to Henry McColl for his success in the junior competition.
Last week the stars were awarded to Jack Paterson, Dane Howard, Emelia Martin and Thomas Duffy.
Raffle winners at the Poetry Competition were Nan Betts, Lorraine McCrimmon and Peter Stadtmiller.
Sport
Things were extremely quiet at the Golf Club at the weekend but some of the men competed in the programmed events. Saturday's winner of Kevin Spencer's trophy was John Lee and on Sunday Chris Glover claimed the trophy donated by Max Graham.
Helen Curtis and Ethel Lee were the only ladies who felt fit enough to tackle the Boorowa course but I don't think they felt too fit when they had finished. An un-named source told me that Ethel had 10 penalties. Not surprising at Boorowa, you can have a great round or an absolute disaster!
Next Saturday nine-hole events are programmed for trophies donated by Mark Sykes and Judy Armour. Sunday will see the annual Allan Field Memorial Day which is sponsored by Monica and Family. There will be a two person Ambrose, names to be in by 10 a.m for a shot gun start at 10-30. Nine hole players are also catered for, names in by 12 noon. The entry fee is $20 for the Ambrose players and $15 for the nine hole competitors and this covers a barbecue lunch and afternoon tea.
Until next time.
