The Sports Management student at the University of Canberra, got qualified as a coach in 2003 and has travelled around the country teaching everything he knows about the game he loves.

Club President David Thornely contacted Eulenstein last year, who showed enthusiasm straight away.

"Dave gave me a call and explained the situation," Eulenstein said.

"They were crying out for a coach, they hadn't had anyone here so I thought it would be good opportunity."

Eulenstein was born and spent his school years in Henty, where he honed his tennis and Aussie Rules skills.

Today he plays for the Cootamundra Blues and played a role in upsetting the Yass Roos in the final of the Canberra Division 3 competition last year.

Eulenstein, who ran his first 2015 session last week, is hopeful that tennis in Yass will take off.

"If I can establish a good junior base and get as many kids as I can in a competition here, it'll be great.

"Basically I just want to build on the work already done by the hard-working comittee here."

He said he's already getting lots of interest from the Yass community.

"At the moment I'm almost at the point where I can't actually take any more kids because I'm only here twice a week, so that's really good.

"When I first started last year there was only interest from like five or six children for the first two or three weeks so it's encouraging to know that we've been able to build that base."

A group lesson will cost $20 per child and a private lesson is priced at $40. The private lessons are open to anyone.

Hume Tennis Club will also host a Junior Development Series tournament on March 22.
