The Yass Golf Club A Reserve side's entry into the ACT Monaro DGA pennant competition almost didn't happen in 2015. With doubts about numbers and the side’s strength against the Canberra sides, the decision was almost made to pull the pin on the side and concentrate on the other divisions. But into the 10th hour, Sammy Porter made a few calls and side was formed and the commitment was made. Things didn’t look too good after round one with a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Federal, but that was to be the worst of the season results and the only defeat, and the boys ended up finishing equal top of the ladder at the end of the rounds. All those doubts were unjustified in the end, with the boys coming through to win the Flag with a 4-3 win over Gungahlin Lakes in the Final at the Federal Golf Club last Sunday. Congratulations to boys on an excellent win for the Club. The players in the winning side in the final were Tim Smith, Jamie Stanford, Lachlan Kemp, Sam Porter, Michael Coggan, Luke Corcoran, Brad Porter and the proudest team manager Buck Harmer.

In other pennant news, yesterday the Senior Handicap side would have taken on Gungahlin Lakes at Belconnen in their semi-final for hopefully another good result, while on Sunday the B Scratch side have a semi-final at Belconnen against Gungahlin Lakes. Good luck to all those boys.
In the Junior competition, the boys had an unfortunate loss against the combined side of Yowani /Gungahlin Lakes in their semi-final.
The B Handicap boys didn’t quite make the finals missing out by a point to make it through.

Dad’s Army competition for March 12
The foggy start for the 11 troops in the Dad's Army competition last Thursday didn't seem to hinder a couple of the players as they had big scores, with Graham 'The Lade Vale Lad' Howlett, finishing with a withering run to score 23 points and take the money.
Graham just won as Ken Reidy's 22 points would have won easily on any other given day but a ball was his prize as was Merv Wright's, who finished on 19 points. Quite a gap in the scoring as one would imagine going from 23 down to 10 points.
Until next week good golfing 'boys'.

Business House competition to March 13
It was the penultimate round in the Business House competition for the season last week, before heading into the final next week. The Green and Orange divisions have their finalist decided with Bateup's Carpentry and Transformer having to miss out. In the Yellow division there could be any of the top three heading into the final, with only a margin of 5.5 points between them and 6 points available with a win. So, there could be some golf being played in those teams this week.
Winners: A-grade: Cal Kemp (5) 28 Net. B-grade: Peter Dawes (13.5) 27.5 nett. C-grade: Graham Howlett (15.5) 26.5 nett. Ball winners went from 28 to 32 nett. In the team’s event after the seventh round, the ladder looks like this; Green Division: Bateup’s Carpentry 33, Elders 25, YGC Cricket 21, Murra Mongrels 17 and Dad’s & Lad’s 11 points. Yellow Division: B&V 27.5, Davis Faulkner 23, Mac’s Mob 22, Bernie’s Boys 21 and Golden Girls 10.5 points. Orange Division: Transformers 39, Fisho’s 28, The Tradie’s 21, Shire Boys 10, Oh Nine two and the Putting Pirates one point.
