The local kickboxer easily brushed aside Ashley Chant to claim the K1 NSW State Title in the Welterweight (68-69kg) division.
Barton said winning the fight in the second round was even more sweet.
"He told me afterwards that he was having trouble breathing out his nose ... I was definitely expecting the fight to go the whole five rounds so to wake up the next day feeling good was a big bonus."
Barton was initially scheduled for a re-match against Tyi Johnstone but he pulled out late.
"I was still expecting a tough one against Ashley but I got through pretty easily in the end which was good."
Leading up to the event, Barton was training twice a day, and his diet consisted mainly of yoghurt, egg-white ommelettes, and chicken and vegetable dinners.
"The diet is the hardest thing so after the fight I had Maccas and a beer, that was pretty awesome."
In the week that followed the fight Barton put on around seven kilograms.
"I took the week off and ate a lot," he laughed.
"Now I'm getting back into it though, I will get back to about 72kg, that's the optimal training weight for me."
Barton is excited to see where kickboxing will take him in the future.
"Getting that NSW State Title was great so I guess the next thing is having a crack at an Australian title, hopefully I get a shot at that sometime soon."
Barton said he was grateful for the support of those around him.
"I just want to thank my friends and family who came to the fight and also my trainer Peter Foster, they've all been great."
