With the recent renovations of the greens and rain at the Yass Golf Club, there was little activity on the course during the week until the weekend competitions.

Therefore, most players in Saturday’s competition found it hard to get a good score going on the sandy greens and damp fairway. The exception was Graham Fleming who managed to shoot 39 points in the difficult conditions to win the A-grade prize, while Allan Golding picked up the money in the B-grade with his 35 points.
In Sunday’s competition Peter Brady managed to finally get a win with 37 points, on a count back from Graham Fleming, after he was runner-up in several of the competitions in recent weeks.
In the regional final for the Golf NSW 4BBB, the Yass pairing of Blake Partridge and Kim Stephan fared well with +3 to run third in the event. The winners Paul Morshead and Dom di Campli (Queanbeyan) came in with an impressive +11, to win a spot in the final at Bonville Golf Resort. In the Club House there has been some recent renovations of the restaurant while Gil and Sue had a couple of weeks off. So it’s back to business for Gil and Sue this week in the restaurant.

Ball winners: G Fleming 39, A Golding, P White, T Payne 35, I Bluett, M Curtis, R Furner, B Greig, S Porter, A Winterflood 34, A Bayley, P Ellis and W Whyte 33 points. The Australian Hotel nearest the pins went to: Bill Scheffler 895cm on the 8th and Gary Butcher 150cm on the 16th hole. The Yass Valley Tyre Service 11th hole went to Richard Julian 203cm and the Mick Curtis sponsored nearest after two shots on the fourth went to Phil White 409cm.
Sunday August 23: Stableford Event
Winner: Peter Brady (15) 37 points ocb. Ball winners: P Brady, G Fleming 37, M Coggan 36 and J Julian 34 points ocb. The nearest the pin on the 16th hole went to Peter Brady 270cm.
