Last Wednesday, November 25, the Chamber held an evening event at Yazzbar with over 70 people attending over the course of the night. Lots of connections were built across businesses from around the Yass Valley, including Yass, Murrumbateman and Wee Jasper, while those in attendance enjoyed good food and drink while listening to music from talented brothers Aluntum and Orion.
As it was White Ribbon Day, Alfred McCarthy spoke to the gathering about the Rae Burgess Centre and its work supporting people at risk of domestic violence and homelessness, in particular the way in which it focuses on prevention wherever possible.
President of the Yass Valley Business Chamber, Michael Pilbrow, said it was a very successful night.
“It was wonderful to see so many local business people connecting with each other and showing that our business community is a real force for good in the Yass Valley,” he said.
“We are very grateful to Alfred McCarthy for sharing about the Rae Burgess Centre, and the very positive work it does to prevent and support people at risk of domestic violence and homelessness. This is an important service in our community that we all need to know about”.
The Chamber’s final event for 2015 is a networking breakfast on Friday, December 4. Member for Goulburn, Pru Goward, will come along to listen and talk about the issues of importance to businesses in the Yass Valley. The breakfast is on at 7.30am at Kaffeine.
