It was the battle of the bottom ladder with both teams sitting equal last in the Woodbridge Cup competition before going into the match, which was played at Hall Bros Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Lance Adams was the first over the line for Binalong with a try near the posts in the 19th minute.
The Bears followed it with a try seven minutes later, which also went unconverted. Nathan Regan went one better in the 39th minute, however, and the Brahmans went to the sheds with their heads held high at halftime, four points in front with the score 8-4.
It was a less than ideal start to the second half with a Bears player running 90 metres of the field to score a try off an intercept pass. The try was unconverted and the scores were locked at 8-8, four minutes into the second half.
James Blair went over at the 20th minute mark to again put Binalong ahead but the see-saw contest continued with a Burrangong player scoring four minutes later to again lock the scores at 12-all.
In the end, Brahmans captain Tom Johnson proved the difference for the visitors with an impressive try in the 28th minute. The effort saw Binalong claim its first victory of the 2016 season for the final score of 16-12.
Ill discipline also cost the Bears with Burrangong losing four players to the sin bin over the duration of the game, which resulted in them having to play 20 minutes of the match with only 11 men on the field.
Best performers for Binalong were James Blair, Lance Adams, Drew Arabin and Cuz Merritt.
The first grade side will now prepare for another away game against the Canowindra Tigers this weekend. The Brahmans will travel to Canowindra Oval on Saturday for the match.
The Jersey Girls came away from Young on Saturday with a rare nil-all draw against the Burrangong League Tag side.
The two sides went to the half time break at a stalemate with both sides desperately trying to gain an advantage over the other, but to no avail.
The Jersey Girls had plenty of good field position in the first half but were unable to turn it into points.
The second half was a similarly tight tussle between the teams with the end score locked at nil-all.
Best on field for the Jersey Girls were Tara McGrath, Mel Ings and Angela Taylor.
