Donna has been an active member of Binalong Landcare for the past 12 years and has always brought much skill and a professional approach in her involvement with Landcare meetings and activities.

A notable and significant contribution Donna Reid has made to Landcare has been through the well-recognised long-term Native Pasture and Alternative Fertilizer Project. Donna was instrumental in its initiation in 2008.

The Project has run over the past eight years in collaboration with NSW DPI and more recently Local Land Services. It is one of very few scientifically valid studies currently available that has investigated the effects of alternative fertilizers on soil fertility and pasture production in NSW.

Since the project’s inception, Donna has continued to play the lead role in successfully securing over $216 K across 12 separate grants to fund the noted project. Evaluation of the project following the presentation of six years of intensive pasture, soil and economic monitoring has revealed the study has been very well received by the grazing agricultural sector in helping producers make their own on-farm decisions in relation to fertilizer product choice. To this point the project has attracted a large audience from across a wide geographical area of south-eastern Australia. In recent years the Native Pasture and Alternative Fertilizer Project has become a signature project for Binalong Landcare.

Donna has willingly given her time to represent Binalong Landcare at two National Landcare Conferences (2012 and 2013) to help promote Landcare, its ideals and present our local projects. She has also played a key role in seeking funds and supporting other shorter term Binalong Landcare projects such as the Binalong Carbon Project: Estimated Stocks & Flows of Carbon into & out of a Rural Landscape.
