Yass Police (The Hume LAC) are investigating a spate of 'Steal from Motor Vehicle' offences that occurred on the evening of Friday, September 16.

Reports were taken from numerous residents around Yass that unknown persons had accessed their cars on Friday evening and stole items out of the vehicles.
Of note, a number of confirmed stealings’ have occurred in the following streets; Worth Street, Brennan Street, Mont Street, Shaw Street, Petit Street and Cliff Street.
On the evening of Saturday, September 17, police from The Hume LAC arrested a 16 year old Yass male and a 16 year old Canberra male in relation to these offences.
Crime Manager of The Hume LAC, Detective Inspector Chad Gillies, reminds residents to protect their property.
“The overwhelming majority of thefts over the weekend were from vehicles that were not secured,” he said.
“It is important that people take some personal responsibility and secure their cars and do not leave valuables inside.
“We would encourage any person that saw something or any person that has noticed items missing from their vehicles over this past weekend to contact Yass Police. This investigation is ongoing.”
Police urge people to always keep their vehicles and properties locked at all times and never to leave valuables inside.
Police urge any persons who have information in relation to this matter, whether a witness or a victim who has not reported the matter as of yet.
