MND is a condition which weakens person's motor neurons and muscles, impacting their ability to speak, breathe and swallow.
The cause is one close to the community, with the festival’s founder, local musician and Gundaroo resident, Scott Windsor, passing away from the disease in April 2015 after a two-and-a-half year battle.
This year, the Goulburn Toyota Gundaroo Music Festival will be held at Gundaroo Park on Saturday, October 8, now in its third year It is a family-friendly big day out, with non-stop entertainment from 10am to 10pm.
The festival will feature its best line up of Australian talent yet, including Aria Hall of Fame inductee Russell Morris, The Voice star Mitchell Anderson, top contemporary vocal group The Idea of North and the James Southwell Band.
According to Event Director, Scott Harding, the Gundaroo Music Festival offers a unique family friendly experience not often encountered on the festival circuit, which is the reason why so many people return year after year.
“We have organised a range of entertainment for the whole family, including local food and produce stalls, a fireworks display, silent auctions, a petting zoo, face painting, 4x4 displays, bubble ball soccer, Nerfsalot and more,” Mr Harding said.
“For the first time ever, entry for children 15 years and under is free. We hope this will encourage people to come along to help us do our part in defeating Motor Neurone Disease once and for all.
“Motor Neurone Disease research is a great cause and I think that generates traction with people, plus the experience that people have when they attend the festival is great. We get such good feedback of positive experiences from people who attend and stallholders which I think increases the amount of people that want to come.”
Mr Harding said that many businesses around the Yass Valley and beyond have been extremely supportive but the gold sponsor this year is Goulburn Toyota.
“The 8.30 Fireworks display has been donated by fireworks Australia,” he continued.
The 2016 Goulburn Toyota Gundaroo Music Festival hopes to go from strength to strength.
All proceeds of the event will go towards purchasing specialised communication devices for those living with MND in NSW and the ACT.
Tickets are available through Ticketek or you can just rock up on the day and buy them at the Ticket Booth located at the main gate.
