Local HSC student and school-based trainee, Caitlyn Douven has successfully juggled her HSC and TAFE studies to become an Early Childhood Educator.

Caitlyn combined her HSC studies and the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care studies at Yass TAFE for two years. The Traineeship program required training at Yass Early Childhood Association to get industry experience. Coming from a family of five and regular babysitting gigs, it’s her first step to becoming a Child Psychologist.
“I love children and I wanted to get higher qualifications,” she said. “My teachers at TAFE were really supportive. My teacher Kerrie-Anne Smith was always there for me and never gave up.”
Caitlyn has inspired many young students to take on the additional study that is required for a Traineeship.
