Yass off-road motorcycling ace Tayla Jones has moved to the US after signing with the Rocky Mountain ATVMC/KR4 Performance Husqvarna team. The 21 year-old will race for the team in three top off-road national championships: GNCC (America’s premier off-road racing series), National Enduro and Sprint Enduro. Asked about how the move came about, Jones said it occurred casually.

“I’ve been to America in the past few years and ended up talking to different people. It led to the team messaging me over Facebook saying they wanted to someone to ride for them,” she said.
Indeed, Jones has raced selected events with great success. In her first US appearance in 2014, she won the GNCC WMX race at Ironman and took an impressive second place at WMX Motocross National in North Carolina on her off-road bike. In the 2016 season, she secured three GNCC’s podium finishes before injuring her ankle.
Jones said her plans had already included a move to the US and the opportunity, a two-year contract, was good timing.
“I’m hoping it will lead to a long-term career, as long as I do well and show what I can do. Obviously, you’d want to win everything, but I’ll learn as much as I can in the first year go from there,” she said.
Jones paid thanks to Graeme Shaw from Shaw Wineries for “coming on board and supporting me this year”.
“Graeme is a great local guy who works hard and he is helping my dream become a reality,” she said.
Team owner Frank Keegan said he and the team are looking forward to working alongside her in 2017.
“Tayla is an accomplished athlete whom we are eager to include in the KR4 line-up of riders for 2017. The women's division traditionally receives less attention than it deserves and we are one of those teams who want to shine a spotlight on these athletes. Tayla will do extraordinary things here and we are thrilled to be able to provide her with the best equipment and technical support available in the sport of Enduro,” Keegan said.
