It comes as Haylett-Petty, who featured in 14 Tests for the Wallabies after making his debut against England in June, re-signed with the ARU until at least the 2019 World Cup.

The ARU are remaining tight-lipped about their preferences as to whether  they should cut a Super Rugby franchise.

The Western Force, Melbourne Rebels and ACT Brumbies have emerged as the three most likely clubs to get the flick, should that possibility come to fruition.

There will no further news until a SANZAAR board meeting on March 9, and perhaps a great deal further down the track, but Haylett-Petty implored the ARU to stick with their national footprint with five teams spread across the country.

"When the Force came in it was all about growing Wallabies and I think throughout the years they've definitely done that," Haylett-Petty said. "They've produced great Wallabies and added to Australian rugby, so I think it'd be crazy to let go a team like that. I hope it's around for many years to come."

Haylett-Petty's latest signing shows he still has plenty of faith in the team, despite poor showings in recent years.

"We're heading in the right direction, even though the last few years were tough," Haylett-Petty said. "For us we're hopeful and all we can do is see all the work that the boys are doing, all the work that's going on behind the scenes. Seeing the club moving forward no matter what has given me that faith and I'm happy to back them."

Last year was a breakthrough season for Haylett-Petty. He won the rookie of the year award at the John Eales medal and was a sensation for the Wallabies on the wing.

The 27-year-old received offers from European clubs but he says the lure of a Wallaby jersey was the main reason why he decided to stay in Australian rugby after previous stints in France and Japan.

"It's taken nine years to finally pull on that gold jersey, so it's something I don't want to give up yet," Haylett-Petty said. "I want to keep fighting for my spot. The World Cup is definitely a motivating force. Playing in a World Cup would be an amazing experience.

"I came home from France and always wanted to come through the system here, so that's always a big drawcard to stay at home.

"I got my opportunity to debut last year and loved every opportunity, loved the challenges it brought, through the ups and downs, so keen to keep fighting for that spot."
