An elderly couple, their daughter and her husband, along with four kids were at home at the time the blaze began at 2.20am.

Emergency services were called to the property on Crisps Lane in Murrumbateman at around 2.30am. 

The Murrumbateman, Springfield, Yass support RFS and Yass fire and rescue responded to a structural fire, alongside NSW Ambulance and Police. 

Unfortunately, the house was fully enveloped in flames by the time units arrived on scene. 

Thankfully everyone was out of the house safely. 

Around eight units and over 30 firefighters were on scene for well over five hours, some left the scene at 12.30pm on Friday. 

While the family is alive and safe, their house and possessions were completely destroyed. 

Murrumbateman Fire Captain Matt Baker says the community has already begun rallying around the family. 

“We’ve been getting calls all day offering help to the family,” he told the Tribune late Friday. 

“We are asking for monetary donations as we don’t know what the family will need in the next few days.

“The Murrumbateman Inn will have a donation tin on its bar over the next few days and people can make donations there.”

Police are investigating the fire, but believe it wasn’t suspicious.
