The talk, entitled The Galaxies Beyond Our Valley, was organised by Kate MacMaster, a social activist who describes herself as “an environmental scientist by background and social scientist by practice.”
MacMaster has begun a series of talks to help educate the public in rural areas, who she believes “miss out on a whole lot of opportunity that people in the cities get, either via attending conferences or having high-speed internet access.
“We just don’t get those opportunities in rural Australia.”
Professor Brough specialises in astronomy, and her talk will encompass any question expressed by those attending.
MacMaster encourages anybody in the Yass community who is interested or has ever held any curiosity about the mysteries of the cosmos to come to the cafe and listen to Professor Brough.
Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP at meet@traderandco.com.au. The talk begins at 6pm, a donation at the door is requested.
