Coach Terry Lemon and captain Vaughan Winnel were both dissatisfied with the loss, but their opinions contrasted quite sharply.
“That was probably the most disappointing loss we’ve had in my belief,” Lemon said, “because they’re the number one side and I believe we’re a six-goal better side than this.
“We just didn’t show it out there now.”
However, Winnel said that he was “not that disappointed with that result.”
“Yeah we lost, but it’s a lot better than the Cooma game.”
Winnel was referring to the game the week prior, where Yass lost to Cooma by 29 points, but missed plenty of opportunities to score with 18 behinds.
The captain believes that there are several positives to be taken from the match against the Griffins.
“Our pressure was good today,” Winnel said.
“We just need to improve on decision making, need to be smarter with the footy. That’s all the difference was today, they [ANU] just know how to play with each other and know what to do with the footy.
“Whereas we just don’t know what to do once we get our hands on it.”
Yass will take on Molonglo this Saturday at Joe O’Connor Park, starting from 2pm.
