She provided a complete description of visual literacy: essentially the ability to comprehend visual images as well as, or rather than, words. Her handout on visual literacy noted “Visualising is thinking. Most young readers can interpret (“read”) diagrams and maps long before they can read the same information in words and sentences.” She donated copies of most of the books in this year’s awards.
PATRICK Smith, known to most as Paddy, passed away at home last week in sad and unexpected circumstances. Paddy was a strong community worker, involved with a number of organisations including Gunning District Community and Health Service, Gunning PA&I Society, Telegraph Snooker Club and Gunning District Association. He was often found working quietly in the background.
He will be greatly missed.
