COLIN Gelling was awarded with an OAM for his service to the community of Berrima. Mr Gelling said he felt “honoured” that he received the award. “An award of this nature for an individual is only ever made possible by one standing on the shoulders and surrounding themselves with many other exceptional, admirable and talented people,” he said. “I respectfully share this great honour with each and every one of them.” Mr Gelling was recognised for his service to Berrima Courthouse, Berrima Courthouse Trust, Rotary Club of Berrima District, Rotary News, Berrima Progress Association and the Historical Riverwalk Project. He was also recognised for various organisational and founding roles which included Australia Day Berrima, ANZAC Day Commemorations, Rural Press Business Awards and Berrima’s Carols by Candlelight.
