Great weekend of golf, bowls and art

The god of the weather smiled on the players and all appeared to enjoy their day on the course.

Scratch winners of the three-person Ambrose were Ethel Lee, Paul Glover and Joe Dyball with 67 off the bat. The runners up were Richard Maple-Brown, Susie Adams and Andrew Winterflood.

Locals, Dave Bedford, Dennis Williams and Christine Partridge were the handicap winners and close on their heels were Peter Curtis, Tom Curtis and Monica Field.

The nine-hole Ambrose was won by James and Barb Shannon and Tony De Mestre who returned from his home in Sydney to his old stomping ground, and the runners up were Skye Regan and her parents

Sunday's nine holes stroke events were won by Monica Field with Ros Graham the runner up and Trevor Nuthall.

In bowls two games of pairs were played, with Philip Walsh and Peter Schofield the easy winners of their game, claiming the winner's trophies. Meanwhile Isobel McDonald played fantastic bowls to ensure that she and new player Chris Stadtmiller were able to nab the runner's up trophies.

The art display was very popular and the majority of the 60 paintings were sold very quickly.

A big thank-you to those who donated their work for sale. A small competition where those interested voted for their favourite (unknown to them) artist was won by Kim Turner with his beautiful portrait of a young woman.

Michael Paterson won the first raffle prize of a weekend on the south coast, Tommy Glover claimed the hamper and John Garry was the third prize winner of bottles of wine

Isobel, Catharina Kuster and Pat Allen won their game at the Boorowa ex-services club president’s day last week.

Allan Glover is a patient in The Canberra Hospital after breaking his hip in a fall last week. Locals send their best wishes.

Best wishes also to Bill Renehan (ex Binalong Club manager) who is also in TCH following surgery last week.
