Snipers knock-off Piranhas

The Snipers, who beat the Golf Club late last year as well, batted first and managed 134. It would prove too much for a rattled Piranhas side.

Jason McCamish and David Field opened the batting strongly and notched 23 and 19 respectively before Chris Rawlinson top-scored with 33.

The Golf Club’s Calan Kemp picked up four wickets for 21, while Phil Sparnon caught three in the field.

The Golf Club managed 116 in return, with Adrian Waters the best of the batters, with 24.

Joshua O’Brien took three for 20, with two maidens for the Snipers, while Steve Okkonen also took three wickets, his for 25.

Snipers’ captain David Field was happy with how his side pulled together at the weekend.

“We are playing well at the moment as a team but I think we still need to improve if we are to win it,” David Field told the Tribune.

“I was pleased with the way we fielded we took some good chances and Matt Davis took one of the best catches I've seen.”

The Bowning Buffaloes defeated the Royal Pirates at the weekend, taking advantage of the home ground advantage.

Bowning went into bat and, with a strong stint at the crease by Beau Walker, made 140.

Walker’s 52 and a solid 14 from AJ O’Mara put the score out of reach for the Pirates.

The best of the bowlers for the Pirates were Shaun Davis, he took three for 36, and Alex Waters, with two for 23.

The Pirates posted 115 in return, with Brad Wylie making 25 and Matt Rhodes posting 14.

Peter Johnston tried to hold the innings together for the Yass side but ran out of partners, reaching eight not-out.

Best of the bowlers for Bowning were AJ O’Mara, taking five for 19 and Lachie O’Mara took one for eight.
