Defending the Shield, Yass performed poorly in comparison to previous years, finishing in last place. However, Yass finished in equal first place in the relay competition.
The popular handicapped competition pits Jugiong, Yass, Binalong and Harden against each other and takes place over two rounds. This year the rounds were held at Harden and Binalong respectively.
On cold evening the turnout was good in Binalong but as the night wore on the crowd dwindled.
Leanne Goode said that most of the events were well represented by each town and that the competition was as fierce as ever in most categories.
She said despite Yass’ result, she was happy with her town’s performance.
“Yass performed well, it was another good year,” she said.
Some of Yass’ stronger performers were Callum Carniel, Tim McPhillips, Bronte Anderson, Callan Kemp, Riley Wilson, Poppy Rhodes, Lochie and Jay Ryder, Kai and Madison Douven, Ally Beck and Craig Wilkinson.
A meeting will be held on Monday night, at 7.30pm at the Binalong Hotel to organise 2014’s event.
