Club celebrates jubilee year

There are some very special treats in store for the Yass Music Club’s 60th year- including Yvonne Kenny as our guest artist at our celebratory luncheon.

Come and join us this year and help us to celebrate this wonderful milestone.

For our first concert this Saturday at 7.45pm, we welcome Australia’s most esteemed Jazz pianist, Joe Chindamo, and his Trio.

Joe regularly tops the jazz charts at home in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. In Europe his popularity is increasing following rave reviews from performances at major Italian jazz festivals.

His reputation as a composer, pianist and arranger is international and his award winning recordings solo jazz piano, piano trio, quartets and sextets.

He has composed much original music for films and featured in over 60 film scores. He has recorded with most of the leading Jazz lights in the world and in most of the leading venues, including The Lincoln Centre in New York.

It is not possible to list here all the awards and fellowships he has achieved, all the CDs he has made, all his collaborations or to mention all the accolades Joe has been given by very eminent critics of Jazz - but here are two:

“There are some pianists who dazzle… There are others who knock you out… Then there are those who seduce you by evoking emotions of vulnerability, joy and rage… What makes Joe Chindamo different is that he is one of the few who can integrate all these qualities,” Leon Gettler, The Age.

“The reason Joe Chindamo arrests you when you hear him is his sheer love of what he does, a love that sparkles from every note,” James Morrison

Suffice to say that this is a concert not to be missed by any music lover, whatever their favourite genre, because Joe Chindamo is one of those rare species – a true musician.

For an evening of Gershwin and Berlin, Joe will be accompanied by Ben Robertson on Bass and Daniel Farrugia on drums – both highly esteemed artists in their own right, how lucky are we?

Members can pay their subscriptions at the door, only $14 per concert, concessions also apply. Casual attendees just $25.

Another fabulous supper will be provided by Berinba P&C. For further information phone Brian Millett 6226 3514.
