Coordinator Cath Williams hopes the enthusiasm of a few shops owners in town will catch on.

“Because the showground isn’t in the main street, it’s a way of getting the message out there early.”

This year the show society is aiming to have as many businesses as possible to get involved in the competition.

Usually the competition is just for main street businesses but Mrs Williams and Lorraine Glover are hoping to canvass the whole town.

“It can be everybody. We’ve spread our wings a little bit this year.

“The more the merrier.”

Yass Showgirl Amy Minahan will be joined by former showgirl Emma Cox to judge the windows on Saturday March 9.

That means windows need to be staged in a ‘Celebrating Country for 150 Years’ theme by Friday March 8.

The show society will provide place cards, schedules and ribbons to help with the decorating.

There are two categories, large and small window.

NRMA took out the best small window in last year’s competition.

“It would be good if [other businesses] get more involved,” Kelly Mather, who puts together the NRMA window each year, said.

“It’s 150 years this year. It’s history.”
