Bulls win Sweeney minor premiership

The Golf Club batted first and was only able to repel the Gundaroo side for 18.4 overs before they were rolled for 52. Sam Hehir was devastating with the ball for the Gunners, taking four wickets.

Gundaroo came out firing with the bat and chased down the total in just seven overs. Hehir again starred finishing unbeaten on 38.

The game between Bookham and Murrumbateman 2 was completely different, but it was Bookham that just got over the line with two wickets in hand.

The Maulers won the toss and batted at Bookham Oval and was able to back up last week’s big win against Gundaroo with another strong performance. For the loss of eight wickets, Murrumbateman 2 managed 225 off their allotted 40 overs.

Things looked good for Murrumbateman when they claimed the wickets of the first four batsmen relatively cheaply. However, David Bonnette changed that for the Bulls, blasting 102 not out. The innings was pivotal and, with support from Leo Pearman (35), was the difference on the day.

The win for the Bulls means they take the minor premiership, two points clear of Gundaroo.

In the third Sweeney Cup fixture, Murrumbateman 1 got the win against the Horns. The Horns batted first and made 133, before the Maulers chased down the total late in the day. Scott Darmody stood out, managing 82 not out.

Murrumbateman 1 has finished its season well but the Horns side has finished its first season in the Sweeney Cup in last spot.

Dalton has finished third on the ladder thanks to an timely bye.

At the time of going to press Bookham was to play Gundaroo at Bowning in the major semi-final but it was still unsure who was to participate in the minor.
