Top bull bought

Gunyah Hereford stud had its spring bull sale recently, topping $8000 for a poll Hereford bull - lot 20 - Gunyah Yackandandah.

Gunyah principal Robert Hain said he was pleased with the sale.

"Trevor Eccles from Bookham took all the commercial heifers and paid the top price for a bull," Mr Hain said.

"He bought heifers from me last year."

A repeat volume buyer, Mr Eccles said he "liked the stretch of lot 20 and the colour, with conformation all round."

Mr Eccles, who bought all 56 commercial heifers, also took home nine stud heifers.

Twenty-two bulls were sold on the day out of the 31 offered.

Nimmitabel producer John Harrington, a repeat buyer, bought a poll Hereford bull at the sale - Gunyah Garram - lot 15 for $3000.

"They are the best temperament bulls," Mr Harrington said.

"This is the fourth time we've bought here.

"We've had 100 per cent calving off every Gunyah bull."

Elders conducted the on-property sale by the Helmsman auction system.
