Rugby League - Yass Minor Rugby League
The Magpies will field a side for every age group through to the under 16s except an under 10s. President Peter Timmer explained that the under 6s were about four or five kids short of forming two teams and encourages anyone interested to contact the club. The under 7s and 8s have good numbers and the under 9s require two or three kids. The under 11s and defending premiers the under 12s have full squads as does the combined under 13s and 14s team, which will be strong seeing as the under 13s were also champions last year. The under 15s have 17 registered players and the under 16s have 17 or 18 players on the list.
Rugby Union - Yass Junior Rugby Union Club
The young Rams are poised for another strong showing this year and secretary Tarina Walker is thrilled how many new faces have flooded in.
"We have been pleased with our registrations with nearly 70 kids registered. The up side is we have had an influx of new under 7s which we hope will continue their rugby path up to under 12s," she told the Tribune.
"We are still continuing to take any Registrations, our door is always open!"
The Rams will field two sides in the under 7s, and a side in the under 8s, under 9s, under 10s and under 12s. Walker explained that players in the under 11 age group will play for the under 12s.
Football - Yass Football Club
The Redbacks have seen a record number of registrations with 205 players signing up for the 2014 season (including the three senior teams).
Team co-ordinator Jodie Gallagher says it is exciting times for the club with the under 12s set to attend a 10-week training program and the clubs coaches sharpening their skills at a Coever Training Course.
The Redbacks will have two teams in the under 8s as well as an under 9s and under 10s. They will have two under 11s teams, an under 12s, under 13s (defending premiers), under 15s, under 17s (girls) and under 18s (defending premiers).
Good luck to all our junior teams this year.
