The completion of the Ray Apps Memorial Units brings to an end the development of buildings for residents.
The opening ceremony was attended by around 200 people.
The opening took place at 2pm with Mara Apps, Norm Napper and life members Bernie Crowe and Alfred McCarthy involved in the opening.
Other special guests included Apex Australia National President Kath Huth, Mayor Rowena Abbey, Founding Member of Yass Apex Syd Dobbin, Mr Bob Richardson (Legacy), Jim and June Field (Bowning Lions), Stan and Gloria Luff (Lions Club of Yass) and other life members of Yass Apex.
President of Yass Apex John Hedges said it was pleasing to finally finish development at the site.
“It’s a good feeling to know that it is all finally done,” he said.
“It is a major milestone for Apex.”
He said the day was emotional and he was “very happy” with the amount of people that turned up.
Following the opening the new units were open for inspection and afternoon tea was then put on at the Senior Citizens Hall by the Yass Senior Citizens Group.
A special anniversary dinner was also held at the Soldiers Club later in the evening.
Yass Apex will now focus on continually upgrading and renovating existing units and also has plans to demolish a derelict house in the corner of the complex that will eventually be replaced.
