Member for Goulburn Pru Goward, who will fight to represent the Yass Valley in next year’s election, has retained ministerial responsibilities for Women, picked up Planning, but lost Community Services after a controversial tenure.
She has dubbed the reshuffle as a “huge promotion”.
They were officially sworn-in on Wednesday.
"I am humbled and honoured to continue in the Primary Industries portfolio and delighted to pick up the additional responsibility as minister assisting the deputy premier on Tourism and Major Events,” Ms Hodgkinson said.
"This is an exciting time for primary industries in NSW and my goal during the lead up to the next election will be to bed down the significant reforms I have implemented during the last three years and drive new reforms to create opportunities and make life easier for our primary producers.”
She plans to concentrate on developing new biosecurity laws and to fine-tune drought processes she introduced last year.
"Two of the big challenges for the year ahead will be developing a new and comprehensive piece of biosecurity legislation and refining the new drought process which I introduced last year,” she said.
"The NSW Liberal and Nationals government is as focused as ever on transforming the state and this new Cabinet - which features strong representation from the Nationals - will ensure rural and regional NSW is firmly on the agenda.”
Ms Goward said her new appointment came as a shock and she expects her newest role will be a challenging one considering this region’s stance on wind farming.
“I’ve been out to Grabben Gullen, I know the stakeholders, I know the issues at play,” she said.
“It’s time to stop stringing people along.”
New premier Mike Baird dropped four MPs from O’Farrell’s Cabinet; Greg Smith, Robyn Parker, George Souris and Don Page.
